Postmusic Content Guidelines
Posts scheduled for a given day should not be posted until 4 am that day. We generally try to give each post at least 24 hours of ‘air time’ before adding new posts.
Most Postmusic contributors will be classified as ‘Contributors’. (Frequent contributors may be administered Author privileges, on a case by case basis.) Contributors’ postings must be approved before they are published. Contributors can upload media but must have an Editor or Admin attach media to the post; this will occur at the time of publishing. Please indicate the spots in your post where you would like the media to be placed.
Posts may include writing only, or media plus writing. Media (by our definition) may include pictures, embedded audio or video, or links to external audio or video streams. Posts which offer recently released MP3 files with a brief description are preferred.
Posts with media only are NOT acceptable; some writing must be included. When supplying written content, you may want to consider the following questions:
- Is it your original material, or that of another artist?
- How did you discover it?
- What does it sound like?
- Do you like or dislike it, and why?
- Is it a singular release, or is it from an album or EP?
- If you are posting a remix, who is the original artist, the remixer?
- What record label was it released on?
- If you are posting a continuous mix, can you provide a track list?
Please bear in mind that Postmusic is a music-centered blog that focuses on the sharing and reviewing of music media. While the use of video media is welcomed, we encourage our contributors to place an emphasis on the musical relevance of the content, and to provide music media files (MP3, FLAC, or similar) whenever possible.
Other restrictions concerning content may include the following:
- Grossly inappropriate, violent or obscene content — We are an ‘alternative’ free-speech music blog, but let’s try to keep it <R-rated, folks. The site should be visually ’safe for work’.
- High-profile media that is awaiting public release, or that is pending litigation; e.g. renegade remixes, or leaked tracks. (Yes, there are agents hired by record labels specifically to crack down on this sort of thing.)
We reserve the right to impart minor edits to posted content (clerical, formatting, etc.), or to remove posted content for any reason. All posted content remains the sole property of the author and the artist(s) represented.
Thank you very much for following our very relaxed rules and content guidelines!
